During the past few years I have helped groups organize and gain those records.
In fact I am presently organizing a group. As you know the only way to place an order is through a
woman from Germany that has done it for sometime.

Be glad to answer questions and accept new members to our group.

Pius,

Can you tell us what records and for which villages the Saratov archive holds records? They wouldn't hold records for Hoffnungstal, Odessa Parish would they?

The archives do not have a listing of available records. Probably not as most are from the Grossliebental district.

Thank you. I have a couple of inventories of the records at the Odessa Archive that were done by Sergey Yelizarov I believe. It's too bad the same thing doesn't exist for the Saratov Archive.

For records in Saratov is just "GDO villages" a good generalization? or do you have a more specific list of which villages have been found at the Saratov Archive?

Saratov records are difficult to obtain and very costly.

Thank you so much for your explanation. Would it be possible to request that this lady ask the archives about which areas the they have records for?

For instance, if we wanted to know if they hold records for the village of Rosenthal, Crimea, when she is there next would she be able or willing to ask the archives if they have any records for that village and what years and types of records they have if they have any?

If she would be willing/able to do that, would there be a cost for her time etc. for that information?

I'd want to know in advance if there were any charges involved and what the charges would be before asking her to make any inquiries.

Jackie pointed me to a really great article already about the Catholic records of South Russia and how the Sarata Archive is responsible for storing these records. If you are interested in the Sarata Archive and Catholic records this is a must read:

Unfortunately ordering records from the Saratov archives is the only known way to get the records.
Believe me from my experience it can be difficult as no known list is available. But if you want them
have to fess up the cash. Also need to be very specific as to what to order as searches cost even if no records are found.
