According to Ulrich Mertens book, pg 233, Neu Bajaut was located in Crimea/Simferopol or Crimea/Feodosia/Tabuldi. It was founded in 1874, ev. (Lutheran), belonging to the parish in Hochheim. It is located about 40 south of Dshankoj. Schools 1-4in 1926. Population was 118 in 1905; 252 in 1911; 252 in 1914; 252 in 1918; 178 in 1919; and 190 in 1926.

Thank you! Is the Merten book something that is readily available? Moreover, has it been translated into English?

Another question: I noticed that you have some old maps. I've come across some maps of Crimea from the late 1800s, but they aren't at all detailed. I've not seen any Soviet-era maps so far. Have you?

It is available for sale in both German and English versions. The German version is "Handbuch Russland-Deutsche" and it is available at Amazon.de for 97 Euros. The English version is available at the Germans from Russia Heritage Collection at http://library.ndsu.edu/grhc/order/gene ... dbook.html as the "German-Russian Handbook" (799 pages, $125 + S&H).
