Is WOEHL interchanged to WOHL?
Ancestry (
http://www.ancestry.com/name-origin?surname=woehl) Says:
"Woehl ... Name Meaning ... South German (also Wöhl): variant of Wölke (see Wolke).
Source: Dictionary of American Family Names ©2013, Oxford University Press"
I also suggest checking the books "Deutsche Namenkunde by Max Gottschald" and "Deutsches Namenlexikon by Hans Bahlow". They are available at the LDS library and various other libraries in the world. See
http://www.worldcat.org/ for which libraries carry these books. I have found the Bahlow book the most helpful as it has an English version. Unfortunately I do not possess a copy of these books just a few pages of photocopies related to my surname.
